I definitely get the sense of fun in both of these pics but they also leave me just a bit disoriented. I find myself wondering "Why?" at both. The composition of the first is excellent: the well-framed and apparently knowledgeable smile, the concealing aspect of hats I wish I'd thought to pursue, the intriguing shadow effect... but I find myself wondering why the octopus has to butt in? The second conveys a feeling of late-night absurdity, like what might just happen randomly after 2am at a friendly party. And the fact that the stacking of hats makes me immediately struggle for a pun about wearing many hats is obviously a plus... but why is she pointing the way she's pointing? Is she playing Werewolf?

Vogue has a sense of playfulness that I like, and I'm glad you played with the colors. As far as my personal preference goes, I wish that the lighting for this shot had been a bit softer; I didn't really want to see such a crisp shadow, when the mood suggests intrigue and enigma. Hat Lady is fun, I enjoy the colors, but I definitely prefer the first photo over the second.

I like your photos! =)

Actually, I wish you had posted Vogue 2 for the contest. That was my favorite... Why? Cause it's clear without being too bright or crisp. There's a distinct contrast of colors, an interesting hat, an enjoyably mysterious smile... etc, etc.

For those posted, I like them both but neither of them grabbed my attention and desire to look closer like Vogue 2. The lightening in Vogue 1 is a bit harsh. Hat Lady is fun and I smiled when I saw it but the overall composition in that one clashed for me. It's a fun shot that has a serious expression. Contrast of silly with aloof snobbery is neat but that's not what I sense in that shot.

I like the first one best. The little bit of purple is a nice splash of color. I'm torn about the shadow. It looks just a little too on-camera-flash for me; maybe just a bit further to the side or a bit softer would be different.

The second photo's background is too distracting for me. I do like the idea though, and the serious expression of the model is a nice contrast to the pile of hats on her head.
