Self Portraits in a Mirror

Hi!

This is my first week entering a photo. I'm so excited!!!

Here 'tis:

The concept was inspired by Isle Bing's Self Portrait in Mirrors (1931), which can be seen here: http://collectionsonline.lacma.org/mwebcgi/mweb.exe?request=record;id=109753;type=101

It's a High Tech vs. Old School camera showdown...

In the meantime... VOTE! (And please comment on photos)

Candy Stripes

now I can eat them... I hope they are good ;-)

Kate's Stripes

So, here goes. My first post on SnapSluts. Ta da!

This was in the studio in Providence where Bobby and I taught this weekend. I think I confused a lot of people as to why I was standing in the middle of the room taking pictures of the ceiling.

And here's my second photo. Stairs in our house. There were just too many lines/stripes. I just couldn't resist.

Challenge # 9 - Stripes

That's right folks, it's time for us to face the fact that we're all creative people, which means we love stripes. Don't even try to deny it. We buy them and paint them and wear them and see them where none really exist. In fact, doesn't this text that you're reading look suspiciously stripey?

Deadline: next stripey Monday, 11/17 (yeah, we missed the stripiest day of the month 11/11, oh well)

And the trophy for best triptych goes to...

...Limequat! Congrats and bravo (x3)!

Here is the winning combination (I am SO going to appreaciate this when searching through the archives one day):

Challenge # 7 - Faceless Portrait VOTE!

Obviously there's one type of vote that's more important than the other, but hopefully you have time to vote on SnapSluts too! Maybe if you have wi-fi while waiting in line. Please remember to give feedback on others' photos if you can!

Good luck!

There were an estimated 80 - 100,000 people at the Barack Obama rally last night in Manassas. In spite of the tricky lighting conditions (and the fact that I don't have an SLR camera), I got a couple of pretty good candid shots.

Make sure to vote twice today; only one of those times should be for SnapSluts!

State of Trance

This image comes to you from Club Ibiza in DC. I believe they capture a faceless portrait of an international trance DJ. I absolutely love this type of photography because it challenges my ability to hold my camera steady in low light without over-exposing with the use of a flash. It's a total guessing game on the settings, but once you find the sweet spot and time your shot based on the lighting, it provides some of the most striking images. Then again, I'm a trance music addict.

Here's one more...
