Challenge # 9 - Stripes

That's right folks, it's time for us to face the fact that we're all creative people, which means we love stripes. Don't even try to deny it. We buy them and paint them and wear them and see them where none really exist. In fact, doesn't this text that you're reading look suspiciously stripey?

Deadline: next stripey Monday, 11/17 (yeah, we missed the stripiest day of the month 11/11, oh well)

Too bad I can't use a picture I took a while ago, because I would have submitted this picture I took in a public market in Madrid, Spain:

(just copy and paste the url, sorry, I can't post a link)

This was the ultimate stripe experience!!

So, forgive me; I'm new. How does this work? Are there any rules? Where do we post pictures? etc.

Hey Kate! The default rule is: no more than 2 pictures "submitted" for a challenge, unless the challenge specifies otherwise. You can post links to your other photos for fun. When you have your submission(s) ready, make a new post with a version of the photos embedded (best with a width of 300 or less) and ideally linked to their full size versions. Some of us tell rambling stories with the pics (guilty), others let the photos speak for themselves. Ann and Sandy coordinate the deadlines and putting up the poll and announcing the winner.

Awesome. Thanks Paul.

I have some user feedback... I think we should allow the winner to choose the next subject. I also think we should allow people to use photos they've shot prior the week of the contest.

I know, I know, that defeats the purpose of trying to encourage us to go shoot each week. But, the subject will vary from week to week, which means one week I might have a shot of a faceless portrait in my archives and the next I might actually have to go shoot some stripes.

I just think we're all very busy people to begin with and unless photography is our job or our only hobby, it's very hard getting out each week with the camera to target a specific subject matter. Specially for those of us who only have large bulky SLRs.

Just my thoughts. What do you all think?

winner can pick next topic... I'm for that, fun to get ideas from all.
Using picks from past... maybe just 1 month. I know that I've never been so disciplined at getting my camera out each week so It is helping me so much, at the same time I understand time constrain and frankly I rather have "older" pictures then just 2 submission.
I would also like to see only 1 picture per person, that way a picture gets the vote and not the total vote from 2 different pictures.

happy shooting and dancing

Thanks for all the feedback guys!

Kate, the guidelines are detailed in one of the very first posts too.

As for changes to the structure of SnapSluts, we're going to keep the status quo for challenge #10, and then tweak the concept, so if you want to make other suggestions, speak now or forever hold your peace.

Louis, that must be the stripiest place on Earth!

So, speaking as a newbie, and as someone who would never claim to be a "Photographer" (with a capitol P), just someone who really likes playing with my camera...

I think the rule should stay that it has to be something taken that week. Especially for those who take pictures more regularly or professionally, sure, maybe you have that *perfect* shot in your archives, but then what's the fun in that? It's called a "challenge" for a reason, yeah? :)

Also: winner picks next topic sounds good to me.
